This advanced training course equips practicing caregivers and healthcare support workers with complete hands-on skills to deliver safe, dignified daily care for elderly and dependent patients. It covers full personal care routines, elderly nutrition support, safe patient mobility transfers, standard vital signs monitoring, and guided practical drills to reduce care risks for both patients and caregivers..

Course Summary:

This course consists of 4 core training modules plus a dedicated hands-on practical session, fully matching Day 2 caregiving training agenda:

Module 1: Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Core learning topics:

  • Bathing assistance

  • Grooming and oral care

  • Dressing assistance

  • Toileting assistance

  • Maintaining patient dignity

Module breakdown:

Learn how to provide complete, respectful daily personal care for immobile or elderly patients. Master step-by-step assistance for bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing and toileting while prioritising patient privacy, comfort and dignity at all times. Understand how to adapt care methods for patients with limited mobility or cognitive challenges.

Module 2: Nutrition and Hydration

Core learning topics:

  • Importance of nutrition in elderly care

  • Feeding assistance techniques

  • Aspiration prevention

  • Monitoring food and fluid intake

  • Recognizing signs of dehydration

Module breakdown:

Explore nutritional requirements unique to ageing adults. Master safe feeding methods for patients with swallowing difficulties, implement key aspiration prevention measures, and learn to track daily food and fluid consumption. Identify early warning signs of dehydration and malnutrition to support timely care adjustments.

Module 3: Mobility and Transfer Techniques

Core learning topics:

  • Proper body mechanics

  • Bed mobility

  • Wheelchair transfers

  • Use of transfer aids

  • Preventing caregiver injuries

Module breakdown:

Master safe patient movement workflows to avoid falls and musculoskeletal strain for caregivers. Cover in-bed repositioning, wheelchair transfers, and correct usage of transfer equipment. Learn standard body mechanics and ergonomic practices to minimise long-term physical injury risk during daily care tasks. Module 8: Vital Signs Monitoring Core learning topics:

Module 4: Vital Signs Monitoring

Core learning topics:

  • Temperature

  • Pulse

  • Respiration

  • Blood pressure

  • Oxygen saturation

  • Documentation of findings

Module breakdown:

Build competency in measuring all standard patient vital signs. Learn accurate measurement techniques for temperature, pulse, breathing rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Master proper recording, documentation and reporting of abnormal vital sign readings for medical team follow-up.

Overall Course Outcomes:

By the end of this Advanced+ 201 course, participants will have the necessary skills to:

  1. Deliver full ADL support (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting) while preserving patient dignity and privacy.

  2. Provide safe feeding support, prevent aspiration risks, monitor nutrition and fluid intake, and spot dehydration symptoms in elderly patients.

  3. Execute bed mobility and wheelchair transfers with proper body mechanics and transfer aids, lowering injury risks for caregivers and patients.

  4. Accurately measure, record and document all core vital signs including oxygen saturation.

  5. Demonstrate confident, standardised daily care skills via guided practical training
